It's that time of year again. The World Dance and Cheerleading Championships are on - and honestly, every time this season comes around, we get a little emotional.
Because we've been there. We know what it takes to even stand on that floor.
In 2024, our team walked away with a Bronze Medal at Worlds. And we are so, so proud of that. But if you asked our kids what they're most proud of? We'd bet it's not the medal.
Let us be honest with you - the journey to the World stage was not smooth. Our kids faced setbacks. Real ones. Routines that were hard to put together. Skills that took way longer than expected. Injuries that made it hard to train properly. Competitions that didn't go the way we hoped. Covid...
And here's the thing we kept coming back to: that was the point.
Not the suffering - we're not about that. But the learning that only happens when things are genuinely hard. The kind of learning you just cannot manufacture.
Our kids learnt to get back up. To not give up on each other. To show up to training even when they were tired or frustrated or flat. They learnt that sacrifice for your team is one of the most meaningful things you can do - and that when you put in that kind of effort together, the bond you build is unbreakable.
Those friendships will last a lifetime.
Yes, our kids got stronger. More powerful, more controlled, more capable in their bodies than they ever thought possible. That part is incredible to watch.
But the growth we're most proud of? It happened between their ears.
They learnt to manage pressure. To focus when everything feels overwhelming. To be brave when they're terrified. To hold it together for the person standing next to them even when they want to fall apart.
Those are not small things. Those are life skills. And they were built on a competition floor in front of thousands of people, while trying to hit a World-standard routine.
Nothing quite replicates that.
We get asked a lot - why Allstar? Why not eisteddfods, or recreational dance, or other sports?
Here's our honest answer.
Allstar has a ceiling no other pathway comes close to. Your child can start with us as a complete beginner and - if they want it enough, and they put the work in - there is a legitimate path that leads to a World Championship floor. In the USA. Competing against the best in the world.
That pathway changes how kids train. It changes how they think about what's possible for them. When you're working toward something that massive, every training session means something.
And the scoring system in Allstar? It rewards the whole team growing, not just the stars. Every athlete improving lifts the score. That means we need everyone - and every child feels that.
There's no sitting on the bench in Allstar. There's no being the "background kid." You are needed.
We want to be clear about something. We hold our kids to a really high standard. We push them. We challenge them. We expect them to give everything.
And we do all of that with kindness.
Those two things are not opposites. High expectations and genuine care go hand in hand at NRG. We believe kids rise to what you expect of them - but only if they feel safe enough to try.
That's what the Worlds journey showed us over and over again. Kids can do remarkable things when they know their coach and their team are in their corner no matter what.
If your child is thinking about Allstar - or if you're wondering whether it's "too much" or "too serious" - here's what we'd say.
It's not about whether they make it to Worlds. It's about who they become in the pursuit of it.
Perseverance. Sacrifice. Teamwork. The feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself. The knowledge that hard work actually works.
That's what Allstar gives kids. And honestly? We've never seen anything else come close.
The World Championships are on right now. And whether you're watching from your couch or from the stands in Orlando, we hope it gives your family a glimpse of what's possible.
Come see what we're building here at NRG.
